“We are honored our Brides chose The Bridges Golf Club as deserving of the Wedding Wire Brides Choice Award for the second year in a row,” said Alicia Baker, Director of Special Events. “Our couples are very special to us and each and every wedding we plan is our number one priority.”

The Bridges Golf Club helps couples with all food and beverage catering for weddings, and arranges a tasting with Executive Chef Tom Hout, who personalizes each matrimonial menu. But custom catering is only one reason that newlyweds sing praises of The Bridges as a premier San Francisco Bay Area wedding venue.

“The Bridges, from day one, made me feel like I was their only customer,” said Jenny, a blissful bride from San Diego, California. “From the time I first visited the facility to the moment my husband and I drove off on our wedding day, I really felt like our wedding was their number one priority. I’d recommend The Bridges to anyone who is hosting their wedding or reception. It’s absolutely beautiful.”

The groom even receives a complimentary round of golf at the Bay Area golf club designed by Johnny Walker. During 2011 fiancées who book their wedding during the week will receive a waiver of cake-cutting and decorative charger fees, 50% off the room rental fee, and a free champagne toast.

Churches, Parks, Reception Halls Top Venue Choices Among Wedding Planning Brides

My Wedding Workbook Online Wedding Planning System

Denver, CO (Vocus) October 31, 2010

Places of religion, outdoor venues and reception halls ranked at the top of brides’ lists when choosing ceremony and reception venues, according to a survey conducted by My Wedding Workbook, the next-generation online wedding planning system.

37.8% of the 836 brides surveyed named a place of religion (such as a church, temple, synagogue or mosque) as their ceremony location, while another 22.6% chose an outdoor venue like a park or garden and 8.1% opted for a reception or banquet hall. Historic mansions or venues (6.0%), hotels (5.7%) and private homes (5.4%) finished out the list.

As for the reception venue, reception and banquet halls (31.6%) were the most popular options, with outdoor venues (12.3%) and hotels (11.4%) also ranking highly. Historic mansions or venues (8.3%), religious venues (6.6%) and private homes (6.2%) rounded out the top choices.

“Weddings are definitely events dictated by tradition,” said Jeff Kear, co-owner of My Wedding Workbook. “So it’s no surprise that places of religion, outdoor venues and reception halls are among the leading wedding venues, because they are certainly the most traditional. However, our findings show a diversity of choices among wedding venues, revealing a willingness among brides to consider lots of types of venues.”

In addition, 56.1% of all brides stated that, in planning a wedding, they would be holding their ceremony and reception at the same venue.

“In light of the current economic climate, brides are trying to squeeze every penny out of their budget when wedding planning, and keeping the ceremony and reception in the same place can save lots of money and hassle,” said Kear.

12.2% of brides also stated that they would be having a destination wedding. “Destination weddings are becoming increasingly popular, and for several reasons,” said Kear. “First, the cost of a destination wedding can be comparable to planning a wedding at home, and sometimes even less expensive. Second, many guests are already traveling by plane, so a destination wedding just means a longer flight. Third, the bride and groom can combine their wedding and honeymoon, saving them money. And, finally, everyone gets to have a vacation while they are attending a wedding.”

Weddings Downsized in Tough Economy

Weddings Downsized in Tough Economy

(PRWEB) January 15, 2009

What’s the hottest trend in weddings this year? Small guest lists.

“Small weddings have really caught on, especially in these tough economic times. Couples want gorgeous nuptials held in unique wedding venues – without the $ 30,000 price tag,” says Christina Friedrichsen author of Intimate Weddings: Planning a Small Wedding that Fits Your Budget and Style and owner of IntimateWeddings.com, a new site that helps brides plan small weddings.

At IntimateWeddings.com, couples can find unique wedding venues available only to those with smaller guest lists. Quaint bed and breakfasts and inns, cozy restaurants and galleries and many other unique locations throughout North America can be found on the site.

IntimateWeddings.com is also the perfect place to find a destination wedding venue. According to Friedrichsen, destination weddings continue to be huge and not-so-far destinations are really catching on.

“Charming locales within the U.S. and Canada are becoming more popular,” she says.

Aside from a wedding venue finder which lists more than 1,300 wedding venues, the site also offers help with everything from creating a meaningful intimate ceremony, to how to tell guests they are not invited. It also offers moral support.

“Having an intimate wedding isn’t always an easy decision. Friends and family might oppose, and that can create added stress,” says Friedrichsen. “I want couples to have a place to go where they can feel confident in their decision to have a small wedding. I want couples to feel a sense of validation, and, of course, I hope they will see all the wonderful things a small wedding can offer them.”

With the current recession, she adds that it’s important for couples to realize that they can still have the ‘wow’ factor, without blowing their budget.

“When you’ve got fewer guests, you can splurge on the things that really matter to you. For some that might be an amazing dinner, for others it might be a five-piece jazz band or a designer gown,” she says.

Friedrichsen, who had a small wedding herself, points out that she’s not a wedding planner.

“I’m a writer. I don’t feel like I am part of the wedding industry. I am a former bride who wants to use my skill as a writer and researcher to spread the gospel of small weddings. In my eyes, there’s no better way to say “I do” than by surrounding yourself with the people who really matter to you,” she says.

Christina Friedrichsen is the author of Intimate Weddings: Planning a Small Wedding that Fits Your Budget and Style and owner of IntimateWeddings.com, a website dedicated to small weddings. The site also has a wedding venue finder that lists more than 1,300 small wedding venues throughout North America as well as articles about planning a small wedding.
